Blue Ridge Parkway VI

One of my favorite spots on the Blue Ridge Parkway, maybe you can see why I LOVE this spot, and it is always a bit different as the seasons change. My first plein air painting since I broke my arm in early July, have been only doing studio work. I will be taking this and many others up to the Wintergreen Labor Day Show, come out if you can! Bear Mountain, Highland, VA

Bear Mountain is West of Monterey, near the West Virginia line. This is up high looking east towards the Allegheny Mountains. I went with a group of ladies for the Highland Paint Out, and think this is my ninth year in a row of going. Riverstone Organic Farm, Floyd

Floyd Country is beautiful, and last August I got to paint there for a whole week. One day we went to Riverstone Organic Farm to paint, but also to have an amazing gourmet dinner that night. I will post a photo later from that evening.  Here is the farm, up on the hillside from the riverbank. 18" x 24" oil on canvas, framed $475.

The newly renovated Mill in New Hampton in Highland County was painted last June during the Highland County Paint Out. I think this was my eighth time in a row at going, it was with six other lady painters and we stayed at South Branch Farm. 18" x 24" oil on canvas, framed $400.

Last fall I painted this from the cemetery @ Mount Moriah Methodist Church, looking north at Maupin's Farm, one of my favorite spots! It keeps drawing me back, big or small, it's fun to paint.
