Farm Land, Lexington, VA
I spent a wonderful week painting all around Lexington a few weeks ago. This is a farm that several of us painted, thanks to the farmer, David Chittum. 12" x 36" oil on canvas, framed $485 SOLD
There were four of us painting, and we went back the next day too and painted a different direction. We are chasing the shade as it changed under the big maple tree!

Shag Hill Barn, Lexington, VA
Here are two paintings on Shag Hill I did with my friend Elizabeth Sauder and sorry they are not very good photographs. When you are outside, the lighting that is there is what you get! The bottom one shows how bright it was that day and the top one the clouds rolled in just when I pulled out the camera. Both paintings are at the Nelson Gallery for the month of October. http://nelson-gallery.com/
Thanks to everyone who helped make it a great weekend!
Too bad we don't know how to have fun on these Paint Outs! Cheers!Monday, October 7, 2013
Lexington Paint Out
Posting these backwards, this is the last painting I did of five (one not completed) in the two days of painting at the Lexington Paint Out with the Nelson Gallery as the host. Bottom photo is at the opening with 24 guest artists and the public invited to the opening. The barn photo was taken when a huge cloud rolled in so you can't see the beautiful light hitting the barn. Painted all day at this site with Elizabeth Sauder (below in pink). Thursday, November 10, 2011
Lexington Hillside 1
Here is one of the two other paintings I did with Elizabeth last week West of Lexington. The trees where wonderful and the day was warm, such fun! 8" x 10" oil on canvas, framed $145.

Kerrs Creek, Lexington
I went to Lextington last week and painted with a new painting friend, Elizabeth Sauder. She had permission to paint on a farm a few miles west of Lexington. I will post two other small paintings I did that day. This one was looking down on a complicated view but I LOVED the rhythm of the hillside. 12" x 12" oil on canvas, framed $200. SOLD

Nelson Gallery Paint-Out
Eileen and I went to Lexington this weekend to do a two day Paint-Out at the Nelson Gallery with about 25 local painters. We had great fun and got to know several of the nice folks running the gallery and the painters . . . . Above is one of Eileen's paintings of the Maury River and mine of Stonewall Jackson's Garden, with photo of the garden next to his house.
