Painted Violins


I had great fun painting two retired violins, one for a customer and one for the Charlottesville High School Orchestra. This is my third time donating a painted violin to the orchestra!
This school year, the students will be traveling to Madrid and Lisbon during June 16-23, 2020.  The CHSO String Ensemble has been invited to perform at the Lisbon International Youth Festival and will also be playing at a few other venues during the trip. The schedule for the auction is listed here http://chsorchestra.org/

Hot Cakes Show, Charlottesville





My Hot Cakes show was hung while I was away, by my husband and son, Ben! I will try to get better photos but it is a busy place, I can send anyone images if you want. Most of these paintings I have posted.

Fall on Old Rag Mountain


Painted this from a photograph from up on top of Old Rag Mountain, off Skyline Drive. Fall on the Blue Ridge Parkway


This was a demo painting I did during the Crozet Arts Festival on October 12 & 13th. It is from a photo that Ben Greenburg gave me permission, I have painted it before, large and small. House Mountain, Lexington


House Mountain from my friend Susan's home in Lexington, VA where I stayed for most of a week with four other ladies. This is her view from the driveway, where I was under a deck to paint. Old Rag, Skyline Drive


There are a few places I keep going back to paint, and Old Rag is one of them! This spot is on Skyline Drive called Thorofare Mtn Overlook, the best place to paint Old Rag! Each time I go, I do get a different painting because of the time of year and time of day.

Farm Land, Lexington, VA


I spent a wonderful week painting all around Lexington a few weeks ago. This is a farm that several of us painted, thanks to the farmer, David Chittum. 12" x 36" oil on canvas, framed $485  SOLD 


There were four of us painting, and we went back the next day too and painted a different direction. We are chasing the shade as it changed under the big maple tree!

Rivanna River, Charlottesville


Painted this the last weekend of September with the FLOW Festival and won 3rd place in the plein air event! They had nature sculptures made on location, kids events, gospel, other singing as well as live music & dance . . . It all was along the Rivanna River at Darden Towe Park. From Cadillac Mountain, Acadia

Storm Coming, Blue Ridge Parkway


Watching this storm come over the ridge on the Blue Ridge Parkway was really thrilling! This was painted quickly to get the feel, then finished at home. 16" x 40" oil on canvas, framed  $650

Air B&B, Floyd, VA


During a very hot spell, David and I went up to 3,000 feet on the Blue Ridge Parkway near Floyd, VA and stayed in this lovely Air B&B. I was so taken by the gorgeous flowers in front of the cottage, I had to paint them. As it turns out, we are trading with the couple for a future time in this lovely spot.

I am also going back to Floyd this week to participate in The Floyd Center for the Arts, Plein Air Paint Out. Twenty-three artists paint all over the area and come together for an opening at the end, inviting the community with wine & cheese. The great thing is they find you a free place to stay! River & Summertime

I am going to paint in Floyd all next week. Floyd Center for the Arts is inviting 23 artists from around the area for their Biennial Plein Air Paint Out! I did it two years ago and had a blast, they even find you free housing for a week!
