Had fun painting the view of the small town of New Hamden, in the Blue Grass Valley of Highland County. This is the beginning of the Potomac River! I painted with three other painter friends while keeping our social distancing, which is very easy when you paint outside!
12" x 36" oil on canvas framed, $485.

I was invited over to Western Augusta County to my friend Maria Reardon's place. We went painting down at the bottom of the hill at Little Calf River and sure enough, cows and calves come to visit and to get a drink. I didn't get a photo of them but should have, will definitely go back sometime soon.
This painting was done mostly with a palette knife and then finished at home. Yes, I was standing IN the RIVER to do this one!
18" x 18" oil on treated board, framed $400

I love this view from one of the turn-outs as you go to the top of the mountain. This photograph was taken from last fall. Of course, the three Art & Craft show they have every year are canceled due to the coronavirus. If anyone is in the area of Crozet, you are welcome to drop by, I will bring this or any other paintings out on my porch to view. Please bring a mask!
24" x 36" oil on canvas, framed in VA cherry wood, $850. SOLD, thanks, Claire & Tim!

The Potomac River starts in Highland County, and this is a farm in New Hamden that the river runs through. The rocks on the far right are called the Devil's Backbone. We all had fun painted here two mornings in a row. 12" x 16" oil on canvas, framed $275

On the side of the road of Laurel Fork, several of us painted looking a different way. I and three other painters went to Highland County for a few nights last weekend and stayed in an Air-B&B. We each had a bedroom, a large deck with plenty of room to distance ourselves. Will post a few more paintings soon.
10" x 20" oil on canvas, framed, $250.

Painted this week with V-Anne in Greenwood on Pony Express Road where this nice old ash tree lives by the creek. The daylilies wherein bloom which is why we picked this spot. Sad that the ash boar is killing all the local trees. We have several on our property that will die this year, I am sorry to see them go!
16" x 20" oil on canvas, framed $375, SOLD, thank you, Deanna!

Painted this with two friends this spring when the dogwood trees were in bloom. It seems a long time ago! Chile's Peach Orchard last year planted rows of young new trees, which is what is across the road from where I painted. They are growing very fast! 12" x 24" oil on canvas, framed in VA cherry wood, $300.

Painted last week with two friends, Chloe & Barbara. Sorry, I don't have photos of their work too, always interesting to see what we each come up with. It's easy to social distance when we are outside painting!

Another Chile's Peach Orchard from when they were in bloom last month. I really love the mountain behind these trees, so just focused on those elements plus the sky. These are the mountains that are right by my house and I see year-round on my walks. The low part is Jarmans Gap which the Appalachian Trail goes through, and we hike sometimes. 12" x 24" oil on canvas, framed $300 SOLD

Chile's Peach Bloom V, 6" x 12" oil on canvas, $125
Two versions that I did one day when the trees were full of bloom, looking in different directions. I am a member of two art coops, the Crozet Depot, and C-ville Arts in Charlottesville, so I wanted one for each. Now they are both closed until June, but plenty outside to keep me painting!

Chile's Peach Orchard this spring has been so gorgeous, I really tried to get out almost every day! This one I think I actually painted first, so they are out of order, which I don't think really matters. I was with my friend Chloe that day, looking east to the mountains. 11" x 14" oil on canvas, framed, $225 This painting is available @ our Charlottesville Coop, C-ville Arts which now has an online shop https://cville-arts.square.site/https://cville-arts.square.site/ SOLD

I know I haven't posted in a long time, with all that has been going on, I am guessing we all have been preoccupied! My two weapons of defense are to paint and to do yard work, both of which I have been seriously involved with. I hope you all are well, staying home and finding your way through this new world of ours! The peaches are no longer in bloom, but I got out several times with friends to paint the glorious BLOOM! A small one here, 8" x 8" oil on canvas, framed. (NFS: I am trading this with an artist friend.)

I had great fun painting two retired violins, one for a customer and one for the Charlottesville High School Orchestra. This is my third time donating a painted violin to the orchestra!
This school year, the students will be traveling to Madrid and Lisbon during June 16-23, 2020. The CHSO String Ensemble has been invited to perform at the Lisbon International Youth Festival and will also be playing at a few other venues during the trip. The schedule for the auction is listed here http://chsorchestra.org/

There are a few places I keep going back to paint, and Old Rag is one of them! This spot is on Skyline Drive called Thorofare Mtn Overlook, the best place to paint Old Rag! Each time I go, I do get a different painting because of the time of year and time of day.
24" x 48" oil on canvas, framed
Below you see the beginning of the paint and the home it went to . . . thank you, Becky & Brody!

I spent a wonderful week painting all around Lexington a few weeks ago. This is a farm that several of us painted, thanks to the farmer, David Chittum. 12" x 36" oil on canvas, framed $485 SOLD
There were four of us painting, and we went back the next day too and painted a different direction. We are chasing the shade as it changed under the big maple tree!
