Old Rag, Skyline Drive

There are a few places I keep going back to paint, and Old Rag is one of them! This spot is on Skyline Drive called Thorofare Mtn Overlook, the best place to paint Old Rag! Each time I go, I do get a different painting because of the time of year and time of day.

Loft Mountain, Skyline Drive

Last weekend painting up @ Loft Mountain, Skyline Drive, David went hiking and I went painting!
Below is my set-up and David after his hike . . . The canvas and palette needs to be in shade, the umbrella isn't necessarily for me, but if I fit under the shade, all the better.  8" x 24" oil on canvas, framed $250  SOLD

A possible commission for someone, I started this in September and since it was cold out today, I got to finish it up inside. Tomorrow will be much warmer and I will go out to paint!

Painted Old Rag at Thorofare Mountain Overlook on Skyline Drive with my friend Elizabeth Sauder. We camped that night, with our husbands hiking while we painted. Got to see a few of the meteorites that evening . . . thanks guys for coming out to play!  24" x 48" oil on canvas, framed  $1,250  SOLD

Franklin Cliffs, Skyline Drive, VA

Painted this two weeks ago when my husband and I camped at Lewis Mountain on Skyline Drive. He then hiked from the campgrounds to this stop, nine miles away. The distant mountain is Massanutton with the gap between, great spot for painting! 12" x 36" oil on canvas, framed $475  SOLD

Old Rag, From Pinnacle Overlook, Skyline Drive

Painted this last week when my husband and I were camping on Skyline Drive. Pinnacle Overlook is a great spot to see Old Rag Mountain and will paint from there again soon. 26" x 42" oil on canvas, framed $1,150. Will be showing this up at Wintergreen Labor Day Festival, come by if you can!  SOLD

Buck Hollow Overlook, Skyline Drive, Above Sperryville, VA

Painted this past weekend up in Sperryville with a dozen other plein air painters, with River District Arts Gallery. There will be a show there starting August 16 - October 12. Looking forward to seeing what everyone did, and will post my other paintings soon. It was great fun  . . . and thanks to Donal and Elena for letting me stay at their farm house! Painting is 30" x 40" oil on canvas, framed $1,275.
