Little Red Shed, Blue Grass Valley, VA

I got to paint my favorite little red shed along the road in Blue Grass Valley, VA the last weekend in June. The weather wasn't cooperating but we managed to paint most of the weekend by finding locations with shelter from the rain. 11" x 14" oil on canvas, framed $225   SOLD

Fog & Rain, Adirondacks

We all went out to paint in the rain while at Paul Smith College, it was fun and challenging . . . 100 wet painters. Some more prepared than others, I fared pretty well, but next time I will take a longer thicker rain coat! I felt this painting was a bit of a break through, and enjoy remembering that day painting with the mist.   9" x 12" oil on board, framed NFS.

Small paintings from the Adirondacks

This gives you a look at some of the small paintings I did while up in the Adirondacks two weeks ago. I will be posting them individually soon and describing where they are from. Will be taking these to the Wintergreen Art Festival this weekend, come by if you can!

Cowpasture River, Bath County

Just finished this painting and will be taking it up to the Wintergreen's 4th of July Show this weekend. From Camp Mont Shenandoah artist's weekend in June, fun just being by the river all day. Even had a golden eagle fly past us. 24" x 48" oil on canvas, framed  $1,225  SOLD thanks Jenna & Chad! This painting is being shipped to California!

Adirondacks, NY

I had a fabulous time at the Publishers Invitational Paint Out in the Adirondacks at Paul Smith College. Here is my first days "catch" which I ended up going back another morning to finish it up. 12" x 36" oil on canvas framed $495. Will be taking it to Wintergreen for the 4th of July Art Festival next weekend. Will have many paintings there as well from this trip.

Wedding Present!

Painted this for a wedding present for Jennie's friend, where the friend was married last October. Need to find out where this is . . . I know it is in Virginia at her grandfather's house . . . what river is that in the back ground? 11" x 14" oil on canvas framed.

Huntington Beach State Park, NC

Painted this two weeks ago when we went camping at Huntington Beach State Park after our trip to Charleston, SC for my birthday! A great way to celebrate, being with family then by camping, painting and hiking the beach shores. 8" x 24" oil on canvas framed $250

Beach Cove in Cedar Keys, FL

Painted this from our balcony where we stayed in Cedar Keys last month. It was a wonderful place to sit and watch the birds fly in for the evening roost. 8" x 8" oil on canvas, framed $110    SOLD

Beach Path, Florida

Painted this the last day at Cedar Keys in April, great little trip and visit to this town, will definitely go back! We are headed out right now on another little trip, this time to Charleston SC for a birthday celebration with my brothers and family. Then on up the coast a bit for some camping @ Huntington State Park, right on the ocean . . . am looking forward to a few painting days there!  8" x 8" oil on canvas framed, $115

Spring Apple Orchard, Crozet VA

Painted this last week with Chloe in the Brandt's apple orchard, just down the road. See how I cleverly I lined up the mountain in the second photograph, ha ha, so clever! We went back again to paint the trees in bloom, will post second painting soon. 12" x 24" oil on canvas framed, $300  SOLD

Verulam Farm, Albemarle, VA

Had fun painting this on Monday with the Historic Garden Week Tour, the view from Verulam Farm with Humpback Mountain in the distance. Several plein air artists were invited to paint at the locations. Did one the day before, which I will post soon. 8" x 24" oil on canvas, framed $300  SOLD

Three Small Chile's Paintings

Chile's Peach Orchard in March

Painted this with my friend Ida two Saturday's ago when the air was still chilly and crisp. The peaches are just waiting for the warmer weather and longer days, very soon they will be in full bloom!  12" x 12" oil on canvas, framed  $250   SOLD

Winter Bales, Crozet, VA

Not long ago, just a month, I painted these bales in a neighbor's field near the railroad tracks. I actually have a few other winter paintings I haven't posted yet, all in good time. Going to Florida tomorrow for a week, and painting around Gainesville and Cedar Keys. 9" x 16" oil on board, framed    SOLD

Chile's Peach Blossom

Funny, I needed a painting for a Spring Show @ McGuffey Art Center for April, but the blossoms aren't open yet . . . . So, I had to rely on a photo for this painting. Douthat State Park Woods & Stream

Perhaps I made the water too blue and will tone it back some, but I was amazed at how Fall-like the woods looked with all the leaves both on the beech trees and ground. This was last Saturday with five other ladies which I posted earlier . . . it had just stopped raining and the woods were so beautiful with the stream, then the sun came out for a bit!  12" x 12" oil on canvas, framed $250  SOLD

Douthat State Park Adventure!

Six of us managed to have a get-away-weekend at Douthat State Park in Bath County last weekend to paint, share stories, food and wine. Thanks ladies, that was really fun! Will post these individually soon.

From the Air, II

A few years ago a friend took myself and my husband up in his two-seater plane, first my husband, then me. It was great fun, and I took a few photos from this outing, and this is one of them. Show @ Martha Jefferson Hospital

Hung this show last Monday @ Martha Jefferson Hospital on the first floor of the new building (not the out patient building). It will be there until the end of April, if you get a chance swing by and take a look, thanks!

Snowy Licking Hole Creek, Crozet

Blue Ridge Parkway & Road

Had fun painting this in the studio on a cold and snowy day that I couldn't get outside. The Blue Ridge Parkway is epic and has endless amount of views to enjoy and paint. 12" x 36" oil on canvas, framed $450, SOLD

Vertical View of the Blue Ridge Parkway

Painted this in my studio on a cold winter day which made me think of the spring and summer that is coming SOON! Fun to paint such a different shape for me, I had never done a tall vertical before. I had the frame, and was debating doing a horizontal, but loved the challenge of this shape. 27" x 55" oil on masonite, wooden frame, $1,100  SOLD  Thanks Kristin!

Humpback Mountain, From Albemarle Farm

(I just updated this painting) . . . . Painted this Sunday afternoon when it was warm and windy, up on the farm that looks across to Humpback Mountain where Wintergreen is. I had permission, but the farmhand asked me to leave because he was letting the cattle into the field!
