Skyline Drive and Hughes River Gap, VA

Have you ever found a postcard that you just loved? It says view of Skyline Drive and Hughes River Gap from Little Stony Man. I love the colors and shapes of the mountains. Fayrview Gardens, Staunton VA, Garden Week

This was my last of seven painting I did during my stay in Staunton, at the Queen City Plein Air Festival. It was wonderfully organized with 23 artists invited to participate. Beverly Street Studio School did an outstanding job, fed us, and found places for us to stay. Cedar Keys, Florida

My husband David and I like to go to Florida in early April and visit family, go hiking, birding and painting! Our second time staying at Cedar Keys for 4 days, and I am already planning on going back next April. We had perfect weather and a wonderful trip. We would get up, have coffee and go out early, he would bird, and I would paint . . . so this is 7:30 AM looking out from the cemetery park. Then we go back and have a big breakfast! I will post more paintings soon from this trip.

Ernest F. Hollings ACE Basin, SC

This site for a National Wildlife Refuge headquarters in Edisto, SC is amazing. Even though there was this plantation house I could have painted instead, I liked this smaller structure that might have been the kitchen. If I had turned around, this is what I saw . . . perhaps sometime I will try to paint it too.

When I arrived, there where two ladies set up who where painting, yes, I just jumped in too, while David hiked around.

Grace Estates Vineyard, White Hall

Lake Sherando, Augusta County

Last week, a family reunion of 15, got together for Cary's 80th Birthday Day, my stepmother since I was 10. It was a fun time riding bikes and eating fabulous food, and enjoying each others company! A big cheer to Cary for all that she has done for our family!

Waylands Barn in the Snow

Bird Nest II, Day 31 of Challenge!

I painted this as a back-up, and now I am using it for my final day of my '30 Paintings in 30 Day Challenge'!  I can't believe I did the whole challenge, the good, the bad and the ugly!

I did get outside today with three other painter, a beautiful warm day, but will go back tomorrow at the same time to finish the painting, will post soon. I will also reflect on the challenge, but I need a bit of time to do that!

Wayland's Barn, Day 29 of Challenge

I got outside today for a little bit near Mint Springs Park in Crozet. This is called Wayland's Barn, it's in a large abandoned apple orchard. It was very windy but I was standing in the sun! It needs a bit more work . . . . 8" x 8" oil on canvas, framed $125  SOLD

Afton Winter, Day 28 of Challenge

 

Got outside today on Afton Mountain, 64 overlook and hope to go back tomorrow and do a larger painting. The Blue Ridge Parkway was closed and covered in snow. I enjoy this spot but have never painted from there in winter.  6" x 12" oil on canvas, framed $125  SOLD 

Snowy Field, Day 27 of Challenge

I did get outside today after two doctors appointments and about 3:30 . . . this is a field behind my house, happy it is still covered in snow. 50 degree days the rest of this week, so short lived snow.  5" x 7" oil on canvas, framed, $65  SOLD

Something a little different for me today . . . was going to paint outside but it was so overcast, I didn't want to without the sun! So, I have several little bird nests, so I might do a few of these for a change.

20 Minute Cliff, Day 25 of Challenge

20 Minute Cliff is on the Blue Ridge Parkway at mile post 19. The rock face below the overlook serves the people of White Rock as a way of measuring time. During the months of June and July the sun drops behind the mountains 20 minutes after sunlight hits the rock, enabling locals to tell time by the sun.

Little Creek, Day 22 of Challenge

When I take a walk, sometimes I go past this little creek, and love how the sky reflects in the water.  This is how I remember it, will take a camera next time. 6" x 6" oil on canvas, framed, $85  SOLD

Lots of snow today and tomorrow, they are calling for 24 inches total! So, if we loose electricity, obviously I can't post, that will be the only thing to stop me . . . in this 30 day challenge!
