Yucca Flowers

Highland, Fence and Pond

Painted this at the end of June at the Highland Artist Paint Out. I was with seven other painter friends plus several other folks from far and near. We rented two houses and painted over four days, great food, laughs and company. This was my thirteenth year, we skipped one with Covid but managed the next year. Four Bales, Crozet

Upper Bundoran Farm

Upper Bundoran Farm is unique and was part of the Historic Garden Week in Virginia. So it was a treat to go and walk around the grounds and garden area. There were five of us painters invited to join in on the fun! This is a yellow red bud, which I had never seen and enjoyed painting. 9" x 11" oil on canvas, framed. Pony Express, Spring

Painted this about a month ago with my friend Chloe on one of our favorite roads, Pony Express in Greenwood. Chile's Peach Orchard in Bloom

This was painted on location up the road on Jarmans Gap, across from Chil'es old barn. These were the first of the peach trees that were blooming. Different varieties bloom at different times. For my birthday we spent a few nights at a wonderful Air B&B called Heartstone Lodge, in Lexington VA and I painted at a few spots on the Maury River, which this is one of them. I changed a tiny bit since then, it's 12" x 16" oil on canvas, framed, $275

Chile's Peach Orchard

 Painted this two weeks ago with my friend Jenny, it was cold and windy but we stuck to it. There were a few freezes afterward that killed the blooms. Chile's has a variety of peach trees and they bloom at different times, so I am hoping to get outside again to paint them!

Humpback Mountain from Chiswell Winery

Painted this recently from Chiswell Winery in Greenwood, just down the road from me. Humpback Mountain is one of our favorite hikes from the Blue Ridge Parkway, about six miles south of Afton, where the parkway starts. Chiswell Winery is new and is owned by Chile's Peach Orchard. They put in the vines last summer but already had vines and wine near Charlottesville. The bales are left from the fall and I like them in the composition.  16" x 40" oil on canvas, framed  $695.  SOLD   Thanks, Donna Jean!

White Hall bales was started on location late summer and finished in the studio. The funny thing was that the guy who baled them, came back right when I started my painting and he started moving them! So I had to place the bales on the painting really FAST! He apologized afterward.

House Mountain, Lexington

Painted this last month with three other friends that live in Lexington and we try to paint together a few times a year. They got permission from a friend to paint from their property and this gorgeous view. If you know Lexington, House Mountain can be seen from many locations.
